News from the condo

Here we are at Thursday, everything is in limbo while we wait for tests & results.

Pat & Nora stayed over after the Monday doctor's visit, right through Tuesday until early Wednesday. John picked up and held the fort until Paul arrived on Wed. evening, and he's still there now.

Life is business as usual. Mom watches lots of TV (cnn) and talks to friends on the phone. A typical day starts around 5am which she goes straight to the sofa and clicks on the news. There's usually a mass on the TV around 8am, and then breakfast is coffee & orange juice. Lunch is noonish and is a bowl of granola, yogurt & fruit. Dinner varies, but make sure it's available between 5pm and 6pm, or else you'll get grief :) And Jeopardy is at 7:30! Mom usually retires at 10pm.

If you're on duty, please record medications in the log book.

Kathleen is coming in each weekday morning 9-11, so there's a chance for the caregiver to scoot out for a break.

As of today, Mom is no long taking Naproxen, in preparation for Tuesday's bronchoscopy.

Mom is in good spirits and very chatty.

Other news

The contact at the company that supplies the walker has finally called Mike and we expect a replacement (and correctly sized) unit in 2-3 days.

The other 3 medical tests have still not been scheduled.

  3. We have used over 90% of her Internet cap. I have turned off WiFi on all my devices. Suggest you all do the same here until we can find a solution. Overage is expensive.

  4. Update from evening of September 24:
    - Mom had low energy on Sunday night
    - noticed some struggling with words / phrases
    - could just be from being tired, but it was more than I'd noticed in the past
    - she went to bed a bit early, 9:30-ish and had a REALLY hard time getting in and comfortable
    - she apologized that I got the bad night, so it seems it was worse then beforer
    - but remember she was off some of her meds, so she is hoping to get back on them after her tests tomorrow (Tuesday Sept 26)
    - she seemed to sleep until I went to bed around 11:30, and I didn't hear her get up until around 5:15 or 5:30, She says she slept in 2 hour stints
    - I gave her some 'space' and went out to visit her at round 5:45. She was quietly watching TV, had gotten her own coffee and orange juice, and was in good spirits with high energy.
    - I finally got to sleep shortly after 6 and mom had to wake me at 8:30 --- I'm not sure if she appreciated the independence or is pissed at me for not being more attentive ... but she certainly displayed some energy :-)
    - she used the word 'disabled' to describe herself today. Perhaps we might help her focus on her abilities. The back pain is what is hampering her the most and if that can be managed then perhaps she will feel less helpless?

If this is too much for an update I apologize. So Canadian.
